so soft and lonely is the night
when worries and demons
crowd out the light
and my chest hurts
from the constant weight on my heart
and each strangling breath
fights to break through the tears
but ill sing my song
and stumble along
belting out my pain
in clefs of melancholy notes
to the moon
harmonizing with broken hearts
along the way
lending my hopes and prayers
even when ive lost the voice
for my own
but pound for pound
id give blood and bone
if thats what it takes
you cant take them with you
in the end
anyway
so ill sing a song for the lonely
and hide it
in a pretty melody
high on my branch
away from hands
that would clip my wings
because what else can a bird do
it flies and sings
