Dear Moon
You show not your pale opal face tonight
Hiding in a labyrinth of clouds
Why do you elude me so?
Am I not your favored child?
Your protege of the night
Your stars have often winked at me
in such an encouraging way
Do you forsake me?
Much like the distant sun
You see me as disgraceful in this light
and so that you have cast me into exile
Do you not love me as you once did?
What have I done that has displeased you so?
Tell me, O' glorious moon so I may repent
For such a great trespass that I have unknowingly committed
I will fall to my knees and grovel for your forgiveness
Forgive me my sins, your most noble and magnificent moon
Treason of the heart have I committed in your name
Always loyal to your whims and fancies
I starve for you
I toil for you
Only for you to tell me again how unworthy I happen to be
These tears I shed have your name etched upon them
Without you dear moon no light shines within me
Desolate forever
Dearest Moon
