As hope lies wait
an intangible array of discord
wreaks like an odor
long forgotten
tastes like the things I don't want to remember

Sour on the tongue
like the bitter days
where only aches of days past treads
worn and weary
like many long hours stretched into infinity

The rains fall
beating down upon the innocent
submission forced upon those who can no longer stand
Right and Wrong
turned into words in a song

They hold no real meaning anymore
The song plays
and becomes the back drop
The real meaning
The melody
and we, the tone deaf

Hope can only weave in and out of the air
Here and then not
and maybe never here at all

Swimming through the years
trying to unravel the only things I know
taking apart the vital components
applying them to my heart
almost like trying to put the batteries in the other way
Still, no success

I don't want to remember
The times I wanted to be happy
The times when I wished
The times when I thought the sun, for a few moments, shined only...for me

Can I dance with the once proud
And twirl in ignorance
As in the golden days?
Now I just twirling an evening of despair
A lone dancer
Going through the steps of a warped reality

The meanings that were once concrete
turn into sand and run threw my fingers
tears trickle, and fly into the wind
Swallowed by the air
Sucked into a void

Much like the void of existence I have become
I'm not really here
I don't think I ever was
But something won't let me leave

I tried to make it unsubstantial. Sort of like how a crazy person weave in and out of coherent thought.

Great write ~ makes one feel the importance of what never mattered, and who was never really there anyway.

Thank you so much! It practically writes itself....
