 Sitting alone in my room,
the soft hum from the machine before me
all the sound in the dead silence of the house.

My fingers scattered frantically across a black keyboard
spilling throughts and words that my brain comes up wtih

I look up at the screen and my vision blurrs
tears begin streaming down my cheeks
though I know naught why.

"Dear Sister,
I love you no matter your pain
No matter your strife.
We fight horridly
And vow we hate each other,
but deep inside I love you,
deep inside I fight for you..."

The letter began to tear me apart as I typed it
swearing to forever clutch me,
but still my fingers pant heavily to finish the letter.

"Dear Sister,
I vowed when we were younger
that you would never know life as I did.
I vowed to protect against the world,
vowed to protect you from even me.
As you lie sleeping in your bed,
I hope you know I watched over you,
like the angels in heaven.
Every night I watched you sleep,
so that you could know rest..."

My heart is slowly breaking,
I am panicing to finish this letter,
trying harder then ever to let her know
that I care about her.

"Dear Sister,
many nights ago,
before you understood anything,
I vowed to keep myself alive,
to protect you.
To many times would have been easier to just end
To many times could I have just ended it,
but a vow is a promise,
and I promise to hold your hand..."

I finally break down,
unable to continue.
The innocence of my sister is lost,
she is no longer a young child,
and I know I cannot protect her forever.
But like a mother,
I can always try...

this is beautiful.. i love the last two lines. i don't have a sister but i know i'd be a very different person if i had one. i think there's nothing like a sister's love.

Wow... this hit quite close to home... I can feel the tears stinging at my eyes... Lord knows as big sisters we try... and lord know as big sisters we usually fail to keep them innocent and unharmed... Great write, hun. :) -Kinks
