The nights have always been scary,
people tip-toeing through the blackness.
But who knew days would be so bad,
when they turned on the TV?

People glued to their seats,
only momentarily,
for a child died today,
and everyone could see.

The cruel reality,
is that people only brush the news,
watching at a glimmer.

There is the note,
that gentle hint,
of some shallow sorrow,
maybe some fake mourning.

But no one really cares,
because that child is one they know not.

Microphones and cameras,
fishing through the sea of fake tears,
like sharks to their prey,
they hunt for the best bite.

I stood there,
emotionless and completely alone,
watched each moment and fake face,
feeling it was not right.

But the world is a cruel place,
and now I know from watching,
but who would have thought,
that this many people were fake?

What happened to the humanity,
to the peace and the air?

I am standing here screaming in silence,
It just isn't fair!

Why do these fakers have to be here?
Can the dead not rest?
I cannot help but close my eyes,
as these sorry people run around.

But it is the painful truth,
I am swearing this to you.
Compassion never had a single chance,
upon this now sacred ground.

Today should be a day of silence,
as should every other day.
A child died today,
and hopefully soon you will see.

Some people should be forced to silence
The lies and horrible pain never lets up.
Death always seems to bring the worst out in people,
but that is not how it should be.

A child died today,
silently she passed along.
No one even noticed,
until the door smacked her head.

The child should have been in bed
you see,
but she wanted to hear the party,
now the child is dead,
how can this be?

A child died today,
without privacy or dignity.
A child died today,
and that child was me.

Hearing you tell me this was chilling, but rereading it was just another experience altogether. Brava snuggles.
