Somewhere in the night,
a child gets lost,
balls up his fists,
and cries.

Somewhere in the night,
a woman stands alone,
bruises forming on her cheeks,
left alone to weep.

Somewhere in the night,
someone is left in the darkness,
scraping for a sense of sanity,
but is left to die.

Somewhere in the night,
the darkness invades,
and humanity hides.

Somewhere in the night,
hope is finally lost,
finally shattered,
and someone screams.

Somewhere in the night,
people are lost and forgotten,
people are frightened and hidden,
lost completely in their dreams.

Somewhere in the night,
reality slowly dies,
and people begin to lose control,
fear slowly settles in.

Somewhere in the night,
tears slowly fall,
people creep along the shadows,
and loneliness dwells.

Somewhere in the night,
as people die,
with no recognition,
she slowly dies alone.

Somewhere in the night,
when people are alone,
when we are most vulnerable,
we suddenly ask ourselves,
Where is the light?

Darkness can also afford protection as well. We must never forget this, even through its sorrows. Things are rarely black and white. Nice job.
