* I was cleaning my room and found this poem I wrote when I was about 12 or 13, and I thought it was interesting. It's not the best, considering it was one of my very first works, but here it is anyway. Enjoy! *
You say that you love me and really do care
But if I was gone, how would you act?
Would you mourn me, miss me, shed any tears?
Or go on with life without looking back?
You say that I'm special, and you want me around.
But are you just giving me lip service?
Do you really listen to my hopes and my fears?
Or pretend so I won't feel like this?
You say that I'm thoughtful, a kind individual.
But is that the only qualities you think I have?
You say you'll stay my friend for years
As if you're all it takes to make me glad.
You say I'll succeed, be a gift to the world
But how can this be when the world's turned against you?
I've honestly tried to better myself
But I really don't know what to do.
I feel like crying, but no tears will come.
This pain is all hidden inside me.
Sometimes this hurt shows up in my eyes
But I usually look at the world blankly.
I'm tired of life, it's teamed up against me
Determined to make me unhappy
All I've asked is to be accepted
But it can't even do that for me.
So maybe one day I should make it all end
It's good nobody would miss me.
I'm serving no purpose, so why should you care?
It's the happiest that I'd ever be.
