(this is a really old one....from my early teenage years)

In the depths of this darkness
I can clearly see,
The emptiness in your eyes -
The chaos in your sanity.

In this endless darkness
I hear your cracking shell,
I can touch the walls
Of your prison cell.

In the abyss of this darkness
I can feel your pain,
As you sit and measure
The length of your chain.

In this mute darkness
I hear your stifled rage,
While your voice lies broken
In its gilded cage.

In the shadows of this darkness
I see you sit and pray,
Trying to purge your soul
Of this infernal decay.

In this barren darkness
I witness your silent screams,
From the birth of your fears -
To the funeral of your dreams.

In the heart of this darkness
I feel your every breath,
I can touch your soul -
I can taste your death...

Very well done at sticking to the rhyme scheme and the cadence was pretty wonderful too. Good job.

All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players, performers and portrayers. Each another's audience inside a gilded cage. ~Shane~
