It's purgatorial
It's this ever increasing hell
I am a determined and hardworking person
I refuse to sleep for lack of reason
I've given up hope that I'll be comfortable

You're existential
That's the word you like to use
You cut yourself shaving
And you pretend like you meant to
And everybody cries for you

I'm spoiled
I'm banking, cause I can
I'm riding this freight train
All the way to 36th Street
I don't remember where we used to go
You gave me five dollars
For three hours
There's condos at the old place
I'd rather be at the old place
Because
I'm relying on a hope ridiculous

I'm noncommital
I like to think there's something else
I know if I skip track three that'll be my favorite song
I am a determined and hardworking person
So you'd better tell somebody that

My leg is cracking
I'm tired of pacing and stomping
I'm sick to death of falling through the floor
My shades need to be two-ply
And the air feels so dry tonight

I'm burnt
I'm waiting, cause I can
I'm riding this freight train
All the way to 36th Street
I don't remember where we used to go
You gave me five dollars
For three hours
There's condos at the old place
I'd rather be at the old place
Because
I'm relying on a hope ridiculous

Hope is a four letter word and I'm being literal
Hope is a six letter word and I'm lying
L.I.T.T.E.R.
I'm taking a dive
I'm taking a dive
You're so alive
At least it feels okay.

I'm all but literate
I'm all but coping
I'm all but proficient
I'm all but one or one but all
Cause
I'm riding this freight train
All the way to 36th Street
I don't remember where we used to go
You gave me five dollars
For three hours
There's condos at the old place
I'd rather be at the old place
Because
I'm relying on a hope ridiculous

I love it . . I swear, sometimes reading you I feel like I've read so much more than a few stanzas of lyrics . . there is so much here, and it's getting unoriginal to call you original ;) But you are. Well done.

i made up my own tune to this almost immediately. i hope it at least vaguely resembled the one you'd intended... Excellent piece; love that penultimate verse especially... and the "You're existential" one too. damn, um, fine. :)
