I am sorry that I cannot be there with you
So I am offering the company of my cat
I know that it does not exactly make up for my absence
But I'm hoping that my cat will fill the void

She is grey and she is greying
And she has white ankles and paws
And you can talk to her even though she probably won't talk back
Unless you ask her the question "What sound does a cat make"

She doesn't bite anymore
And she'll only scratch the carpet
And she's really sort of little
And she likes to sleep a lot sort of like me

I wish I was there
For your benefit
My cat is getting older every day
At least a while she'll stay
And some of that while
She can stay with you

I wrote a dis song this morning
About someone else's mom
I redesigned and redefined the verses
My cat came in and fell asleep on my bed
The song's not that great anyway

The temperature changed today
I had to close my window
I figure I won't wake up tomorrow anyway
My cat doesn't care
She scratches her nails on the carpet
It's kind of irritating

Sometimes she sits in my lap
Most of the time she does not

I wish I was there
For your benefit
My cat is getting older every day
At least a while she'll stay
And some of that while
She can stay with you

I don't feed the cat very much
Except when she's meowing

this made me laugh...i guess anyone with a cat would know why..."My cat came in and fell asleep on my bed The song's not that great anyway" was a great line... :)

I echo those two. Couldn't help but smile. Ask my cat that and you will get a THUD, as he crashes face first into a wall from a piece of furniture.

like cre, i was smiling throughout this one... i love its casual presentation of some deeper concepts... Oh, and my cat, when asked "What sound does a cat make" will tell you the answer is N'gaa.
