Sitting on a rock
In quiet contemplation
Pond and I are one

Face in calm water
Tis' a stranger that I see
In my reflection

Silent gold beneath
Still pond water speaks to me
Frog on a lily

Water droplets fly
Casting rainbows overhead
Robin takes a bath

Gilded on a reed
Iridescent green and blue
Shines the dragonfly

Ankle deep I stand
Tadpoles dart around my feet
Toes stuck in the sand

Swimming naked...free
We dance in fluid union
Bodies become one

Fixed gaze in the night
Caught by the light of two moons
One moon winks at me

Light cool breeze of fall
Spider sails a golden leaf
Across his ocean

The woods are ablaze
Pond adds fuel to the fire
Reflection of fall

Drifting crystal down
Sky and water become one
Snow falls on my pond

Locked in frozen calm
Perfection and deception
My pond in winter

Strange how such short verses hold such immense power. Astounding work here, the brief touch of a lovers fingers, the soft caress of an autumn wind - delicate yet overwhelming. I loved this.

Before I read this bit of your work I never really had a great deal of respect for haiku poetry. Though in these samples of your talent you do this style great justice, and have broadened my perspective immensely.

I've written haiku, but nothing like this, as they are not worthy for me to post here. They really aren't. This is a favorite. It reminds me of me. ~Shane~

and you say I'm the master... I don't think so. I don't think I'd ever have the guts to attempt a haiku and yet they seem to flow from you so easily and wonderfully.

This completely put anything I wrote to shame. Actually it was seeing your other haiku's that inspired me to write a few. Do you have a pond you meditate near?, it seems there are a lot of ponds here

thank you FallenFaith for your kind comment - but the pond is in my mind only!!!
