Freedom is an Illusion

Freedom is an illusion

Or so it seems to me

Then maybe that's an illusion too

And I'm just too confused to see

For freedom isn't really free

It always costs you something

Love, money, pronciples

Then what does it really bring?

Freedom brings a state of mind

That your in control of things

But its just another illusion dealt

By those who pull the strings

Freedom is taken for granted

And held in high esteem

By those who can afford it

While others can only dream

Freedom has cost the lives of many

Throughout it's history

But the souls that died for it's name sake

Were the only ones truely free

Freedom from persecution

Freedom to have a voice

Freedom to choose who gives you freedom

Freedom to make no choice

Freedom to worship as you please

Freedom to come and go

Freedom to pay your taxes on time

Freedom just for show

Freedom to be harrassed by cops

Freedom to carry arms

Freedom to be above the law

Freedom to lose your farms

Freedom guarantees all these things

And even promises more

But the ones who truely benefit

Are those who keep the score

Yes, freedom comes in many forms

But in the end you'll always find

That the only freedom you'll ever have

Is in your heart and mind
