Just shy of nine P.M.
The sun starts to run down
Opposing your mood
While mimicking its pull
In shadows

You cannot see beauty, no
Not from behind dropped eyelids
No, not from within yourself
Not like I see

You cannot step outside
For this view
And opening your eyes
Before a mirror
Would mar the near
Perfect reflection

Lashes cast shadows
Alike fresh blades of grass
Dew-dropped
Oh, love, don’t cry
It’s too dark for me to see
Your soul reflected in those droplets

…and I am not close enough
I still feel wind pass between
Our bodies

Love; my lips are up in flames
Stronger than sun could ever cast
I can feel your lungs
Breathing into mine at last

Kiss me love
Deeper
You’ve lit the candle
Crawl inside
