Reality fades into dream
Subconscious overlap
emotions one cannot deny
Like a favorite nightmare
so haunting it’s forever etched
…tiny particles of its once existence inescapably engraved into your skin
my skin
padding every corner of my mind
If ever I were crazed not to want you
Bittersweet remnants of your embrace
that embrace
will never fail to linger there
Trying so hard to surface
to overcome
and coming so far
I can swear I still feel your fingertips
tap tapping
like my heart beating heavily
tap tapping inside my chest
I can swear I still feel your fingertips against my hungrily shivering flesh
So this is alike that nightmare
carefully dipped in sucrose
And I…
I cannot believe I’m not imagining
that you are truly there
were on the other end of that embrace
that it’s not just the wind that whispers to me
or the midnight fog that kisses me
That…
that embrace was real
when you wrapped me in yourself like that
that when you squeezed my hand like that
just a little bit too tight
that when I slipped away from everything except the feeling of your body against mine
I wasn’t dreaming
