There's a woman
and she's suffocating
beneath the whirlwinds of reality
She's all caught up
within the cobwebs of personality
and there are tears that fall like rain
musical tyranny
pitter-patterring off concrete
telling stories laced with irony
Of a little girl
who drowns within the woman
the woman who straight-jackets her up within the facade
of who she dreams to be
I wanted to tell her secrets, that little girl
build a river out of her despair
and sail it with paper ships down a trail
leading so far away
but the little girl is silenced
unbearable memories muted
of a childhood filled with unnameables
So i'll hold you close
and with lips pressed against your chest
i'll sing you secrets
hoping the little girl inside will hear
and dance
.
.
.
and dance
