I know not everyone agrees about the war on iraq, but I would hope that you all at least support our troops no matter your belief on the war. I wanted to show this to everyone because it just sickened me. Berkeley basically wrote a bill making it illegal for the Marines to be there, and as long as they are there they are unwelcome and unwanted visitors. So these people chained themselves to the entrance to the Marine Corps Recruiters office and would let no one in. Please I would like everyones feedback and opinions on this because I am honestly disgusted by this, but I would like to hear from other people that are equally disgusted or perhaps side with everyone in the video(seperate link). I just want to see everyones viewpoints on this.

Out with the marines. They don't belong there and nobody wants them; they should leave.

Disagree with the content of their message, but do not disparage of their right to dissent. When we restrict speech we do not agree with we have planted the seed of facism. Thank God we live in a country where we are (at least for the moment) free to speak our minds, whether it is popular or not. We have not fully tested our freedoms until someone we disagree with uses them.

I know war is not a means for peace, but I wholeheartedly support the troops and their efforts to right an unfathomable wrong.I too, am disgusted by the lack of understanding some people have. After all, troops fight to keep freedom...even the freedom of expression that these protesters cling to so dearly.

I don't think this war has one bit to do with freedom. Protecting ours or liberating others. We've been fucking the middle east with full knowledge of it for a lot longer than we've been told. They don't hate our freedom. Thats a joke. We want what they have and we'll get it and thats it. Also the military is pretty much a last-if not only- option for the poor and those hoping for an education or career. Every man who is over there completely of his own accord and duty, rock on. I admire you, man. I don't think I could do it but you're doing what you think is right. Awesome. But 30,000 soldiers wounded makes for a lot more people changed. And thats just OUR soldiers. We SHOULD support them. They are humans, they are workers, they are doing what they can... but how long can we let them die in a war they gain nothing from. Its a war full of victims. Nobody wins. I hope the best for every soldier, for every civilian and family and child in Iraq and Afghanistan but more than anything... I feel sorry for them. I hope we come to our senses.

In the mean time, people will respond in the only way they've been taught... we don't believe in it... lets force other people to think the same way. Lets block doors and change laws, the truth is... we owe it to each other to let everyone decide for themselves. very thought provoking, dear. --Jes

I've often said, the most patriotic thing you can do is to criticize the polocies, actions, and the motives of those who govern our country. Far too often, that criticism goes ignored, and people resort to action, rather then wait around to be noticed. I commend these people for their innitiative, but I just think they went about it the wrong way. I agree with Jes. Our troops are comprised for the most part of men and woman who are just doing their jobs. Putting their lives in danger for their family and for friends, and for people they will never know. They deserve respect. Support, and above all, they deserve better. Better than what they get from the big wigs, on the front line, and ESPECIALLY, AT HOME(!!!) The motives in this war remain questionable, at best. As does the competence of it's instegators. How to get out may remain a paradox for years, perhaps DECADES to come, and it's affects, it's damage, will resound on both sides for far longer. How do we stuff the flower in the rifle barrel this time? You got me. But I'm open for suggestion. As for upholding freedom? Hah! This has NOTHING to do with freedom. This is us, doing what we've done FOR YEARS. We put our noses where it doesn't belong. We overturn govern

We overturn governments and install ones that better suit our diplomatic/financial needs. And this time, we're being rejected, like a body rejecting a reattached limb. Damn the liars! Impeach Bush while we still can! And lock him away in a little box for the rest of his intolerant/ignorant/HICKISH life.

Lets get out of the east, and prevent terrorism LOGICALLY. At home. Lets come up with ways to deal with those we don't understand. Lets stop unfairly persecuting the citizens of the world. We need reasonable people to sit down, and discuss, and deliberate, and THINK. We need a way to keep people from being so pointlessly killed, without those people being constantly monitored or policed. So we need a miracle. We need a perfect world.

This war is wrong and never was right. Supporting our troops means not sending them into a bullshit war. We already did that. What we have to do now is give them a reason to fix what GWB broke. He has so much blood on his hands, a thousand years won't wash it away. We can't pull out suddenly now, because we'll leave a deathpit. Iraq...we're stuck with it. All thanks to a powerful few and their goddamn money. Here's to hegemony *tips glass up* -END
