bad and unforgiving

a demon in the guise of an angel
a monster beneath the skin

lying in wait, the demon stays
hiding in the shadows, the monster waits...

...warm and loving
pure and caring

smiling and merciful
good and forgiving

an angel seen as evil
innocence perceived as hate

refusing to see past the mask of darkness
and missing the light within...

...hateful and careless
irresponsible and reckless...

...carefree and spreading cheer
happy and smiling...

...confused and misunderstood
by the years of pain endured

carefree towards some to hide the hurt
and dark towards others to hide the love

not knowing how to respond to feelings
locked away into the dark shadows of the mind

uncertainty becomes confusion
confusion becomes insanity

hiding away in the mind
the sorrow and confusion rising...

...the pain won't cease
and the darkness spreads

the mind becomes a maze of emotions
while the heart and soul become numb

and lost in the endless recesses of the mind
one shall become...

the body begins to slowly die
still the struggle continues inside
