Pick Yourself Up
and quit leaning on me
my shoulders were not made
for drooling on
I'm not a
mannequin in a window sill
your personal rockstar
so stand up, on your own, tall
I don't live for you
I'm not an object
respect me for
myself
not what I
do for you

for if I step away
will you fall
with nothing to cling to
and shatter on the floor?

please keep your hooks
out of my flesh
I don't want
to be handled
like a piece of meat
I'm not your "everything and all"

I'm not a trophy
for your wall
nor is my heart
a toolbox
to fix the broken things
in your mind

so if I step away again
will you fall?

then sweep yourself up
and tumble into
another set of arms
until you clasp
someone who never lets go

and like animals, devour
one another in desperation
to keep the beating
of your empty hearts
unceasing

This is a great statement for the slackers out there who need to go out and do things on their own. Excellent work.

*jaw drops* wow....amazing. I love this. Very bold and proclaiming. As definate as the steel string riffs that cry Steve Ray Vaughn's "Pride and Joy"

I sense some Nietzsche here, very will to power and very to the point, no mincing words and dead to rights...nice
