I saw a girl
Beneath a tree
Clinging to life,
She seemed to be
I asked "What's wrong?"
She said to me
"My new found love
Has set me free."
And quickly
She began to cry
I held her
As she'd surely die
I spoke to God
& asked him why
Take her life
When it was I
Who truly lived a
Life of pain
So much gone with
Nothing to gain
Sometimes my friends
Think I'm insane
& often tears
Flow like the rain
But as I held this girl
I knew
Exactly what I had
To do
Back to the age
Of 22
Before I ever
Even knew
Who you were
Or what we'd be
That love is
False reality
That you would
Mean the world to me
If only pain
Would let me be

Maybe, baby...then I'd be free
