Sitting on a park bench,
Alone as I sit and burn one down,
I watch loving couples roam the ground.

I see a young girl standing,
Head hung low to the floor,
She looks like she has something missing,
Like she wants something more to see...

She extends her hand and runs into the woods,
Arm trailing behind her, beside wind and dirt,
Intrigued I follow, daring to wonder.

Find her lost, slumped against a tree,
Cold and alone, as sad as can be...
I ask what's wrong, she cannot reply,
Using a careful finger, I wipe a tear from her eye.

"As long as I live, I'll dry your tears," I say,
"I'll give you more, the kind you adore,
But don't you dare cry any, unless I've implored..."

She looks at me with her sweet amber eyes,
Closes her hands on mine and whispers,
"...All right..."

From then on she cried from happiness,
From my pain and delight,
But still never to this day will I forget the sight,
Of the girl who ran away from the world,
Just to be lost and alone,
But she found love, and now love they've been shown...
