drifting
floating
into no where
spinning
looking for you
in this nothing of everything
because i know you
and this is where you dwell
where i want to remain sanguine
forever
between the shadows and stones
among the lilies that grow silent
reaching with expiring fingers
that go numb from the soft invitation
to a possible that pulses with forever
as i'm shouting in so many soundless ways
because i can't seem to make
such visions permanent with open eyes
or paint them with such delicate bones
i envy the butterflies
that escaped from my lost voice
sitting upon your windowsill
as they stare and soak
in all your conjured mindscapes
your pirouette expressions
always telling needle truths
in shifting spirals of twilight
as a hint of summer innocence
would tug at your winter lips
leaves languishing on flagstones
invaded my mist shrouded imagination
sitting perfect in imperfection
frozen like fragile velvet sighs
and they left me singing softly to you
in an ancient runic language
i never consciously remembered
because i couldn't be fully awake
and still touch the curve of infinity
it's maddening this ability
to cross over time and tides
and never touch the ground
beyond the cobalt door i hide behind
that's never quite completely clear
unless my eyes are closed
with lashes kissing fallen stars
yet you hear me across every midnight
even when i think the hummingbirds
have muffled every crashing tear
so i'll spin this nowhere
with broken minuet ankles
fantasia and autumn rain for music
where only your whisper is comfort
and thoughts of your breath
wrapping my name in a moonbeam
teases me into a forever after
of some other nowhere dream
