there aren't any stars in the sky
just the eyes of a thousand wishes staring back
winking in that told you so sort of way
yet i can't find the ones i thought
i tossed up so many times in so many ways

thinking back they must have refused to fly that high
and i never thought to check the trajectory
or compensate for the dreams i didn't realize i was letting go of

someone please hit me so hard my illusions snap
.turn my eyes .back. to the ground.

it's horrible the obsession i have with hoping
counting all the little splinters of it
as if the formula stitched on my lips really makes sense
when they fall from my irises
like mercury needles

i tried to keep track of them all at one point
but they kept slipping off the knife edge and dulling the will
i liked to keep balanced there like some pretend talent of the moment

someone please tattoo the taste of irony against the back of my throat
.make me remember i'm .not more. than dust clinging to cobwebs.

i met a man without a crooked walk or bent smiles
preaching to spiders about the value of a last kiss
when it lingers and moves over the heart like acid rain in march
so intense and swift you fail to see the corrosion it leaves
as it burns away promised tomorrows from veins in cauterizing atrophy

he seemed to hold a deeper understanding of nothingness
and i wanted to touch the scars on his hands to know the texture of it
so i could try and evanesce in the stained glass of abandoned cathedrals

someone please pick up my pieces and throw them back into the sea
.let my edges become .smooth and frosted. so i can sleep.

.i want to forget how the night .sighed. and taught me to breathe.

mm Mind candy..Wonderful. I particulary love the first three stanza's. They could stand on thier own but open the rest very well " or compensate for the dreams i didn't realize i was letting go of" *sigh*... That polish's some thoughts i've had lately. thanks
