i hear the drip upon my foot
i look down
and see the blood pool beneath my boots
i follow the scarlet pattern up my legs
i play connect the dots in my mind on my ruined pants
my eyes are drawn to my stomach and chest
my shirt is tye dyed crimson
rivulets flow down my arm
i trace them with my hand to my forearm
my wrist
and upward

over my hand
to my fingers
from which the precious liquid flows

Love Lost

It Slipped Through My Fingers
I Held On Too Tightly

And So

i bleed
