Burning bright, the fire
Of a land divided
Sought the attention
Of freedom united

Democracy rose up
To answer passion's plea
The hammer crushed them all
The sickle reaped the free

Bloody battles long raged
So many brothers lost
Red stains still taint the ground
What has the dying bought?

This reminds me of that recent newspaper story. I will mark this as a favorite. Very subtle. I like your political perspective on this & your other poems. ~Shane~
