If you are currently aware of the political situation in Northern Ireland, this will make sense to you. If not, you should fill that gap in your education as soon as possible.

---------------------------------------

I stand here, surrounded
While the sun is revealing
God how I hate this
Blindfold concealing!

My eyes may be covered
But yet still I see
Your head in your hands
Crying for me

My ears may be ringing
But yet still I hear
The death march resounding
Each note it's own fear

But yet I draw strength
From the ground underneath
My country, it seems
Attempts comforting me

In a short, sweet time
My body will lay
With my hat at my feet
And it's ribbon - IRA

Treason, they say
Is the cause of my pain
But we both know there's only
The crown to blame

So, cry my dear wife
Cry tears for me
Knowing that I died
To make Ireland free

An order goes out
A harsh, grating tone
The rifles are cocked
But I smile so you know...

I think of my country
I feel ready to die
And go from rebel to martyr
In the blink of an eye

I once wrote a poem called, "Saint Patrick's Day in Ireland", not posted here. This is so much better! It reminds me of my poem "Body Bags & Vietcong Flags". Thanks for writing this. I wish I had. Peace. ~Shane~

I read a book called "Angela's Ashes" in the past, and it spoke of how the Irish are brought up to love and die for their country. This is a sad poem, though beautiful all the same.

Haha, and it reminded me, too, of Flogging Molly's "What's left of the flag". Wonderful read, Dragon. =-MO-=

My heart rends to see such a beautful land be torn apart due the last vestiges of Imperialism.

yes, both sides have commited atrocities - and perhaps both have made strides towards peace - but there is no peace without FREEDOM!

On Saturday September 11th, 2004, TheLastDragon (68) writes:
Also, I feel the need to say something else: both sides have commited horrible atrocities in the name of what they believe, both politically and religiously. Both sides have also taken huge steps toward a permanent and lasting peace.

It was lovley and I mean more beautiful then the word beautiful can describe, The sadness is wonderful. Education is a tool that mostly those whom are literate can easily find, and sadly still they have no motivation to do so. Fuck'em.

Who the fuck is "They"? Is the "they" local, as in your city or school? Or as in the whole world? Damn im tired of "they based" all covering tries on making truths. Great lets all sit at our computers yelling THEY!!!! Or not?

..I think "they" is to be the next 'ism of this age. Theyism! The thing that tells you the exact truth about everyone, with no explanation ... Okey im done yelling now, nothing to see here. Go back reading *hiding*

Lets mix: the word "nationality" with lost land and dead relatives(mostly generations back) add a good deal of religion. Poof! we get a real shiny patriot yelling logic for/to idiots, also called "Jingoism".

I see this as a skin touch of that, more of a part of the story for eyes to look at. That makes it likeable for me and liked. Tiger
