The end of what was
And starting anew
Is too much to take
Is it really through?
All of our fighting
And hatred and war
Just brings us back
Where we were before
All over again
The cycle repeats
It seems neither side
Will accept a defeat
"War is hell"
Sherman once said
It couldn't be more true
Haven't you and I bled?
Crimson drops stain the floor
As we're catching our breath
I can't cut you again
If I could, I'd choose death
Like puppets in a play
We have no will of our own
We must keep fighting
With a sigh and a groan
I can't lift this knife
I've given my all
As my strength fades away
I can't help but fall
My dying sobs
Bring you to your senses
You turn your eyes sky-ward
And scream at the heavens
It's all over now
The conflict is finished
It looks like you've won
But what are you winning?
