Breathe it in
the air might well
be poison anyway

cut it short
and save yourself
from pain in light of day

soak it up
you may not know
a darker side of love

push it down
it isn't something
made to rise above

-and its a maze
amazing you could make it

it's a lie
so just lie down and take it

at a loss
for words to make it better

bear the cross
then bury and forget her-

A cross, my shield on the altar of her neck .. Came to think of that Sean Penn movie line. I do not think there is actual death in this poem however. The msg seems more of a personal breakup related poem to a friend.

Still I wonder and I think the question makes the poem stronger.
