Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray you'll hold me as I weep
A dream that I've tried hard to keep
From fading from my skull
In my thoughts I'm not the same
I change behind undying names
Writing will forever tame
The wild stars inside
If I could just try to break through
And reach my hand out to touch you
I'd remember skies of blue
And who I was before
But strings of veins hold me in place
As tears of black fall from my face
It's you I can never replace
As I crumble to my floor
A mass of sobbing cut-up flesh
Set apart from all the rest
Swallowed by my lonliness
Within my carbon walls
My only warmth is in my cage
I spill my blood out on the page
It speaks of all I cannot say
My sweetest wine of words
So now I lay me down to cry
A mind curls up to slowly die
Another day has passed me by
And all the gates are locked...
