Buried Promises

~ Savannah ~

Her shower water sounds like rain,
Yet, not as near serene.
Bloody water down the drain,
Along with hopes and dreams.

From her opened wrists, the blood flows down,
Creating crimson tile.
It's dripping makes a soothing sound,
It almost makes her smile.

A smile while dying, that's a thing,
Not many people have.
Then she glances at her "promise" ring,
It almost makes her laugh.

From promise ring, to laughing death?
That is a tragedy.
She curses him with her last breath,
And it remains a mystery.

One man knew the pain she felt,
And why she took her life.
She died alone, all by herself,
And only he knows why.

What part did he play in her laugh?
Why did she choose to die?
Did that "promise" that she thought she had,
Turn out to be a lie?

He'll always be the only soul,
Who knew the truth that day.
Her tale remains to be untold,
She took it to the grave.
