 This is getting tedious again.

Plates clash out the melody,
Narrating my life in the sounds of silver and ceramic and 'can I get you anything else?' rings aroung my ears.
We are too starched, too pretty.
I'm looking in the mirror and realizingf I'm smearing my already smeared makeup,
and wait for my boss to yell.

I'm staring at the woman across from me now,
She too, is too fluffed up, too primped
Gleaning bottled secrets from a cheap bottled beer.

The hours are lost on nobody.

A knife-like comment knocks the sweet smile off poor Kara's face.
Another $300 day.

Another eight hours wasted on nothing but $25 dollars in tips and 3 dollars an hour.
Time to go home.
Home,
When I lack the heart to live
Need for speed sits on the TV
And I lay on the couch,
Buzzed and resigned into sleep.

6 hours left of nothing to do.
But sit in the bottom of this hole...

when one finds oneself at the bottom of a hole... one has two choices. to dig thyself out, or sit and wait. and of course friends can always be called in to help. =hugs and wanders off again=

Brilliant piece, evocative. That 1st line opened things perfectly and the rest took me on a mini-tour of the tedium of a crappy waitressing job. -Carl

ive missed an oldy... this reminded me of if tom waits (70's waits) was actually a girl in the new millennium. subtle and bleak, i think this strikes with a contemporary wid-western melodrama that breaks a heart but continues to beat regardless...
