all though i’ve known you
your entire life
and you’ve been with me
for all of mine
it is a funny thing
experiencing someone
i have yet to meet

still, i imagine
when first introduced
we’ll recognize in each other’s eyes
the mutual link
which is much more than any
polychromatic rendering could possibly chart

what graph or examination could be drawn upon
to prove or otherwise disprove that you alone
are the sacred element which has caused my loyalties to
shift and divide yet again…only for the last time

that is, of course until you
and yours
and theirs
continue what we
can only wish to have begun
so that, in some way
this connection of indomitable love
will perpetuate
much as it has from the beginning,
without end
