broken, beating, ripped out and trampled on,
in a state of arrest,
or straining to keep the pace
of an excited state,
perpetually giving and taking,
it has been known,
after years of restless disappointment,
to choke on the build-up of false hopes
like plaque on arterial walls
and in the same silent way that it began in the first place
it decides to simply stop all together
