it doesn’t happen every time, but only some times
when i look directly into your hazel eyes
i am overcome with feelings of such unquestionable purity and light
that it moves me to tears.
true, there have been sour times
before i knew of you
when the darkness of heartbreak overshadowed me,
and i pray you’ll never know those shades of life.
but the fact is even though it was my greatest gift to you
i can not shield you from life.
so, if and when you are eclipsed by the unfamiliar silhouette of misery
and for what ever reason i am nowhere to be found,
just know that it doesn’t happen every time, but only some times.
