Innocent, that's how we start,
Nothing wrong, pure of heart,
Never knowing what's in store for,
Us until we feel the horror,
Of a friend's betrayal,
Of our heart's final sale,
As we sell off what we hold dear,
In hopes that that will stop the fear,
We lose ourselves, lose our hearts,
Trying so hard not to break apart,
Soon we find we are no more,
Sold ourselves just like a whore,
But then, our heart is who we are,
No longer can we see afar,
Our eyes grow dim,
Till we can't see Him,
The world becomes so dark and grim,
Our chance for survival has grown slim,
And all is lost and becomes broken,
We cry out the words unspoken,
Hoping and praying for some kind of token,
Wishing our hearts were more outspoken,
Yet all we hear is the cold silence,
Unanswered prayers, our own contrivance,
Soon our anger turns to violence,
Put our trust in self-reliance,
But then an answer to prayers long forgotten,
The answers we have always sought when,
We can't find a way,
Can't survive the day.
God is waiting, always there,
To give you back your heart repaired,
So that once again you may be whole,
God's gift to you, your very soul.
A Father's heart that's filled with pain,
For the children who His Son have slain,
Now He waits with open arms,
For those who seek for their heart,
Once all the defences are disarmed,
His love He is able to impart.
