Once upon a time
There didn’t have to be the choice between life and love
No struggles over money, there was comfort from above.
No more am I cool, no more is this hot
Find the look or be forgot
I think of such a time, and it makes me want to try
Then I remember it exists only in my dreams
And in my search for truth, I merely live a lie.
Of never knowing, what lies ahead
Or whether death is near.
Thinking I am all alone,
No one follows you beyond this life
Its time to reap what I’ve sewn
Its time to face the knife.
One must wonder why we’re even here
Are our brief lives as meaningless as they seem,
Or is there allusion for these burdens we must bear
Is my life a dream?
Who’s to say whether I’ve lived it right,
Facing each struggle prepared to fight
Maybe not, but on my behalf I must say
This cruel world shall soon send me to my grave to lay.
