I collapse onto the ground,
Tears streaming down my cheeks.
Falling, they turn to dust,
Long before they touch the ground.
Looking in the shadows,
You are no where to be found.
I close my eyes so tight,
Trying to shut everything out.
My hair falls in disarray around my face,
I curl up in the corner afraid.
So alone...
I never see the shadow cast across my body.
I'm lost yet somehow found.
When will you come for me?
Your hand reaches out then pauses...
Shaking your head, you turn away...
I look up...
My sobbing stops...
I hold out my hand to you,
Won't you come join me?
In my sheltered world of shadows?
You walk back over and sit down.
Together we sit in the darkness,
Sharing pain and sadness.
I lean against you,
Not wanting this moment to end.
Startled, I awake in my dark corner,
Alone once again...
The dream is now over.
I gaze out from the shadows,
Waiting...
I close my eyes,
Shutting out the pain again.
Where are you now?
