'Thank you,' I say
'for being so strong.'
I feel hot, wet, slippery on my cheek.
'You're the one who gives me strength.'
Till then I had not wept.
But the tears of injustice and doubt
Poured from my eyes,
in to the crook of his arm.
And every night,
before I sleep,
I thank him,
Words into the sky, blank and black,
Hovering above me, ready to severe reality like a knife,
I say to him in a hushed voice,
'That's why I really love you.'
No one believes it but me.
I'll say again, Thank you.
