The Darkness inside devours my soul,
The Darkness beyond engulfs my spirit,
A Primordial tunnel I cannot exit,
The proverbial Light I seek at the end.
Seeking out the Light of the tunnel,
I find Light coming from both ends.
Both are pure and blinding,
One a blaze of red, the other of white.
As I probe the Darkness with my psyche,
I find I’m faced with questions:
Which Light is Holy and which is my home?
A decision that I cannot make.
Beckoned by the red blaze, I head for the white Light,
Knowing what I am, yet still seeking entry.
As I reach the Light, a heavenly being approaches.
And knowing once more my rejection, I fall.
The being spreads his white wings
And extends his hand to me.
He smiles and the Light blasts me back
As a voice rings out “You are no longer welcome!”
And so I fall through the flames, past the onyx gates,
And land, once again, next to a lake of fire.
Spreading my once white wings, I rise to my throne like a black cloud
Knowing for eternity the sad truth of my existence.
I would release my pride and vanity if I could, for
I would rather serve once more in Heaven than to rule here in Hell.
