I sit by the phone that never rings
I sit and contemplate all the good things
I realize now the bad outweighs the good
I know the mistakes I've made in fatherhood
Try as I may I can never make amends
I'm to blame for my daughter's bad trends
The most important thing in life is a child's soul
My mistake lies where that was never my goal
I pay the price now for all my mistakes
A lonely old man with severe heart aches
My attempts to make good were quickly spurned
For my child to love me was all that I yearned
Too little to late was all she had spoken
Leaving a shell of a man pathetic and broken
