Homes lie
broken and shattered
ruined and scattered
in rubble.
The sick and the lost
wander
searching
for their lives.
Rebuild
to be torn down
again and again.
Friends and family
cannot be found
in the flood
the flood of water
the flood of debris
the flood of tears.
Endlessly running
engulfing
drowning
taking everything
to a watery
grave.
I wrote this in my english class when asked to describe what the aftermath of the hurricanes in Florida might be like. I have never actually been in a hurricane, so this is not first-hand knowledge.
