You look at me
As if I possess diamonds
Within the left hemisphere
Of a rose cushion.
You bear witness to a man
Who has mastered the art
Of creating compounds
Of bruised spirits
And the blood
That gushes from within
This cylindrical artery.
You may see me as a superior,
But I see you as my contemporary.
Although we both realize
That the evolution of ideas
Is a continuum,
You proved to me the minute I met you
That your words are certainly not Cro-Magnon.
That your words are not lodged within blocks of ice.
That your words are not surrounded by sap.
I saw potential in you
That you may have overlooked
Due to a shaky sense of self-confidence,
But I am definitely invigorated
By the way you have progressed as an artist.
Know that if we find ourselves
On opposite points on the big blue marble,
You will still find me.
Realize that if we find ourselves
On different dimensions of life,
You and I will still feel a connection
That science may not be able to explain.
The cipher of giving and receiving
Will remain intact.
We have been in both fields
From within the curves and arcs
That form this cipher.
I extend me gratitude
For you not only being a pupil
But for also assisting me,
Showing me how it feels
To open my chakras
To the energies
That only brothers can provide.
I've been in places
That have been narrow and dark,
But I know
That once my lantern starts glowing,
You will be in the shadows
With your own torch,
And just as I have kindled my flames,
I have faith
That yours
Will never fizzle out.
