As I stand by this wall,
I hope to tear all walls down.
A slip of paper shakes in my palm,
Accented by whorls on my fingertips.
I take my time
Before I lock up my meditations
With two clean folds.
The words on this page
May run away,
But the message
Shall remain enclosed
Within the crack of this wall.

As I stand by this wall,
I open the chambers of my brain to the heavens,
Awaiting healing within the bricks,
As well as in the wind.
These gusts
Sail through my hair,
Filling my follicles with faith.
Time passes by,
Yet not enough
To fully knock down my barriers.

As I stand by this wall,
My inhibitions are released
Minute by minute.
The voices of praying men
Fade into the background
And my thoughts merge with the bricks.
I can now focus.
Nature remains still and unharmed,
As are the many felines
Fighting through the crowd.
Healing commences.

As I stand by this wall,
The past suddenly becomes the present.
Every instance of excruciating pain
Reaches the foreground.
Times of loss
Succeed times of adversity
Succeed times of anger
Succeed times of apathy for life itself.
What could result in apoplexy
Actually results in heightened awareness
And sudden release.

As I leave this wall.
I hold back tears
While in virtual shock.
My wounds are open.
I am sore from serene sorrow.
I walk back to my tour bus
After a group prayer,
And break down in front of the first person
Looking my way.
Pressure is lifted.
Calmness commences.

As I stood by that wall,
I hoped to tear all walls down.
While I may have still been guarded,
There were people who had no problem
Seeing the man behind the sores.
More pain would commence
After leaving that wall
And after leaving that land,
But while I remained
Within the boundaries of the desert,
I discovered truth
That I never knew existed.
