I escape the condominium of conformity
And begin my midnight trek.
Winds in the northeast guide my way,
For I am blind.
My other senses intensify as I approach an empty lot.
The smell of cannabis sativa fills all orifices
As I move past the mechanical troll
At the end of the concrete drawbridge.
I sit on the curb and ponder to myself.
Eyes widen and regain sight
As they fixate on astral planes.
Lids vanish as the organs they protect
Join the moon on its lunar safari.
Consciousness grows higher.
Higher.
Higher.
Higher.
Higher and higher still.
The tapestry that is the cosmos insulates my mind.
Small patches of whiteness
Emanating from the eyes of Gaia
Stimulate me throughout the night
Awe overcomes me
As the sheets of Mother Nature's bed are changed.
Visions of blue and yellow serve as my alarm clock.
I now possess the strength to take on the universe,
For last night,
It was a midnight banquet
That was juicier than filet mignon,
Sweeter than crème brûlée,
And richer than champagne and caviar.
Praise the sky.
