If two people had an identical idea,
Shared it with nobody,
And neither person any prior knowledge of the other person
Having the same idea,
Wouldn't that be cool?
Frankly, I am not sure.
I pride myself in being one of a kind.
I am one like everybody else is one.
Such a thought on my part would seem like a fallacy,
A blatant contradiction.
Completely irrational.
Statistics do not fight on this side either.
In most cases, neither do genetics.
There is no debate,
For there is no valid argument against individuality.
Or is there?
Many a time I wonder
If such a thing is possible.
Can two people have the exact same idea?
Would it lie in the field of poetry,
Resulting in identical meters, rhymes, stanzas, and verses.
Would it lie in the field of painting,
Resulting in identical interpretations of the same image?
Would it lie in the field of biology,
Resulting in identical solutions for curing cancer and AIDS?
Would it lie in the field of mechanics,
Resulting in identical vehicles that are environmentally safe?
Would it lie in the field of politics,
Resulting in identical ways to achieve world peace?
Of course, I might be using my brain excessively.
Maybe, I should use my heart and my soul
And give my mind a break.
These two people with concepts too similar for words
Might share the same ideas on what makes us human.
Maybe these two people could be good for one another.
They could share a bond that lasts lifetimes.
The content of the bond could be a friendship,
Or possibly a loving relationship,
Or maybe,
And this is a long shot,
These two people could be soul mates:
Two people who were truly meant to be with one another
And have been together from generation to generation,
Throughout the history of time.
For all I know,
It might be dangerous for two people with identical ideas
To have anything to do with each other,
Given that the bad traits come with the good traits.
But then again, maybe these two people with identical ideas
Could bond based on their similarities
And simultaneously correct what makes them irksome.
Here is another question I ask myself regularly.
Do I actually believe in all that I speak of?
I do not know.
I may never know.
All of these thoughts came to me overnight
In a dream I had.
As much as I love being an individual,
I allow myself to keep an open mind.
Improbable as it may be,
Someone who is foreign to me
Might have an idea identical to my idea about identical ideas,
With the same level of curiosity.
With the same level of imagination.
With the same level of intensity.
With the same emotions running through both our heads.
Whether I believe this could ever come true is one story,
But I undoubtedly feel
That this would be a fascinating thing to wonder.
I can live with that.
The thought of sharing the brain of another being
Does not scare me anymore.
I just hope that the one who shares ideas identical to mine
Does not share an identical body or face.
