Within the flames
Of a flickering candle,
There are secrets
That often reach synaptic shores.
They reside within an oasis
Found in the middle of a dendritic desert.
All eyes focus on the flames.
They begin to divide
Like amoebae reproducing.
The appear to form a V,
The shape of two fingers raised
When one wants to wish peace to their fellow man.
I look again
And the flames form a heart,
A burning passion for the sanctity of love.
These signs tell me
That though so much unrest exists
Within my psyche,
My core values of spreading peace and love
Still shine through.
Even during days
Where depression threatens my well-being,
I am reaffirmed
Not only in the love I give,
But from the gentle stroke of my heart
By the genuine peace and love
Of somebody I care about.
These images must remain
For the next time my affects start to slip.
A memory for the cerebral archives.
