How can I keep on going here?
Amid my own dark growing fears
I try to wipe away your tears

As you search for the only words
I've hoped would never be made heard,
they leave your lips all odd and slurred

You let me know what I have known,
I cannot be your cornerstone
If I can't make it on my own

My uselessness; a second skin
a feeling rooted deep within,
Am I then nothing but my sins?

A man with all too many plans
just waiting for another chance
but never working to advance

I know I don't live up to you
But God knows it is all too true
I try so hard (I really do!)

To make you feel a pang of pride
as we are walking side by side
while others struggle and divide

I want the whole known world to see
There is a bond 'tween you and me
A thing of love, simply called 'We'…
