we are young but not so young as we used to be before
there was anything before and memory held nothing but a
few crystal clear images where now things fade and are
replaced by intuitions and generalizations built on
an averaging of many many images and to separate the
particle from the composite becomes an effort of will
fresh pink babies come crawling as if marching out of
mothers who last i thought to look were nothing but
children themselves like me just learning to reason
or neglect to
now in seeing the forerunners of the generation one step ahead
i fear that ours will not be the one to make any
great dent in the entrenched grievances we bear with our lips
against a society and a world or take any great step in the betterment
of a humanity left in the dust of its great gluttony
we are gluttons too
we throw curses as far as we can throw them and from the
shore we couldn't get one to fall in the ocean
going through the motions
another channel another station another poem
