walking
been in town since before the day

and every day he wakes it's just his neighborhood
and every day he wakes he keeps busy helping his nephew take care of the yard

his hand rests on the wheel as he keeps me engaged in idle conversation
and the finger that holds his pledge is swollen around the gold
