yea, and the three of them
they drank
and danced wildly around the fire
in the high desert
they sang
the phone never rang to interupt the primal communion
as the expanse offered nothing to bounce
a signal off of
and the wind blew
cold
and the wind blew
strong
feeling its way through all the cracks in the rock
and they all laughed at god
because it couldn't touch them here
not with the fire high
warm sweet mesquite smoke
and brandy in coffee softened the divine reminder
so that it wasn't much more than
an incantation whispered
that raised small pin pricks on their skin
it reminded them
briefly
that to live is to
die

and if you were walking by
you wouldn't see them
unless they saw you

and if you were watching
from a mountain
the moon would shine through them
you wouldn't hear a sound

god is the
question
of darkness or dreams
when the sand swallows your bones

they all fell in a drunken heap
laughing
without reservation
laughing
and the coyotes sang along
and the glass in the sand
laughed at the moon
and their eyes heard the sound that it made
spinning in an infinite voice
that never thought of
wanting answers
because there were no questions
and the world
it kept spinning even though
they had stopped dancing

all the millions of little points of light
became circles to their eyes
the connections
and presumptions in existence
between the eyes and the mind
softened and unsure
by brandy
and feelings of permanence

they looked up at the stars and all fell
silent
breath came heavy
and rhythmic
the fire
embers
and the chaines rattled because the mind
remembered that they were
there

and if you were walking by
you wouldn't see them
unless they saw you

and if you were watching
from a mountain
the moon would shine through them
you wouldn't hear a sound

god is the
question
evangalists answer with
gold

yea, and the three they split
into two and one

the two held onto each other and pushed into each other
and moved together and tried to force their flesh to breath
together to bind together though they knew they couldn't
win

and the one smiled at the sky
found no communion
but wasn't particularly looking

in the end
they
all three stared in sepparate unity
into the expansive sky
and absorbed the light from the stars
that had travelled so far
and so long
to get to them there

one after another they drifted
drifted off to sleep
and found dreams that were each
their
own

this is like a religious expirience, i mean it was like reading about the trinity & why we must twist questions of divinity & mortality.. such work as this comes only from the mind of someone who knows what most don'tso deep & intense* i must read again*

"it reminded them briefly that to live is to die". The fleeting excercises, which are, in truth, rituals to assist us in denying this simple truth...

Do we simply rot, or do we answer for our deeds? Did the world really 'stand still' on some day of importance to us, or did we momentarily lose touch with something that never does...

On Tuesday July 20th, 2004, TropicalSnowstorm (750) writes:
The difficult truth is always lurking outside like a voyeur to peer through the window of our carefully constructed, beautiful home of self denial...and all we can do is pretend we didn't see him there...leering and touching himself...

amused by our discomfort with acknowledging his presence. Sigh...I need another vodka drink and maybe I'll throw in an action flick that tells me if I am just focused enough, I can beat the odds... Ciao, T/S

Notebooks out, class is in session. Flawless! Compelling in its reading; crisp and taut in its structure. A perfect blossom dipped in gold displayed on a crystal shelf. Magnifico!!!

the images just kept rushing through my brain...some fantabulous word marriages, such as "and brandy in coffee softened the divine reminder". The whole piece for me had

flashes of Jim Morrison and Nick Cave - I hope you don't take that as a criticism becuase it is high praise. The whole piece is an amazing concept.

Those quoted lines were my favorite, also. The story about the people didn't seem to hold much of interest, though. Disappointing, from you.
