yea, and the three of them
they drank
and danced wildly around the fire
in the high desert
they sang
the phone never rang to interupt the primal communion
as the expanse offered nothing to bounce
a signal off of
and the wind blew
cold
and the wind blew
strong
feeling its way through all the cracks in the rock
and they all laughed at god
because it couldn't touch them here
not with the fire high
warm sweet mesquite smoke
and brandy in coffee softened the divine reminder
so that it wasn't much more than
an incantation whispered
that raised small pin pricks on their skin
it reminded them
briefly
that to live is to
die
and if you were walking by
you wouldn't see them
unless they saw you
and if you were watching
from a mountain
the moon would shine through them
you wouldn't hear a sound
god is the
question
of darkness or dreams
when the sand swallows your bones
they all fell in a drunken heap
laughing
without reservation
laughing
and the coyotes sang along
and the glass in the sand
laughed at the moon
and their eyes heard the sound that it made
spinning in an infinite voice
that never thought of
wanting answers
because there were no questions
and the world
it kept spinning even though
they had stopped dancing
all the millions of little points of light
became circles to their eyes
the connections
and presumptions in existence
between the eyes and the mind
softened and unsure
by brandy
and feelings of permanence
they looked up at the stars and all fell
silent
breath came heavy
and rhythmic
the fire
embers
and the chaines rattled because the mind
remembered that they were
there
and if you were walking by
you wouldn't see them
unless they saw you
and if you were watching
from a mountain
the moon would shine through them
you wouldn't hear a sound
god is the
question
evangalists answer with
gold
yea, and the three they split
into two and one
the two held onto each other and pushed into each other
and moved together and tried to force their flesh to breath
together to bind together though they knew they couldn't
win
and the one smiled at the sky
found no communion
but wasn't particularly looking
in the end
they
all three stared in sepparate unity
into the expansive sky
and absorbed the light from the stars
that had travelled so far
and so long
to get to them there
one after another they drifted
drifted off to sleep
and found dreams that were each
their
own
