white sand
reflect sun
glare blind
sitting on these cold granite boulders
will give you hemeroids
now that's something to think about
yucca
of the lily family
split and stagger up towards
the sun that would itself be sweating
if it wasn't for this damn incessant
cold wind
head bleeding into a unity of division
emancipating itself from my being
whatever that is
and focus is lost
along with direction
my six dollar compass is broken
one liter of water
swiftly flowing down my throat
and through my raw urethra
onto the gulping sand
hungrily sucking
a sponge devouring all moisture
i might have to offer
now they pump
northern california's water
to keep the oasis of mara flowing
hetch hetchy valley drowning
to sustain a pitiful puddle that somehow manages
to support the two palms that grow there
unnatually
like the oakland hills eucalyptus
everything is a lie
and if you're ever
lost
and that desperate
always remember
you can bite the head off a lizard and suck out its fluid
but
you'll have to catch it first
